That's funny, because Only the Ones We Love really does move me. Although I'm a man, I make a connection with this essentially feminine piece of work. It is dreamy and yearning. Someone else mentioned "I like this". I actually do like this song, mainly because of the strings, and also because it was a clue to Tanita fans that she wasn't about to go completely in a Kylie direction.
The songs which I find a bit weak....
Happy Taxi - it just doesn't take me anywhere
Love Story - the delivery annoys me in some ways
Sighing Innocents - a bit Middle of the Road
We Almost Got it Together - i find the guitars a bit too much, riffy/twangy, and the lyrics are too complex for its singalong intention
Yodelling Song breaks up the calm of LITC a bit too much. Although I do like the lyrics. Deeply personal song wrapped up in something light. I suppose there's something inside me, however, that made me think it was a bit of Good Tradition II
Never Known - a bit too quirky, vocally. too folky.
But, like others say, my favourites come and go. Over the years, I've come to like You Make The Whole World Cry more and more. Initially I didn;t like it that much, as it sounded like a bit Eurovision-y for me (the 80s type of Eurovision) - LOL
