News : Tanita is recording !!!

Hello all ...

We've been without any news of Tanita for a long time now .
So , I've been doing some research on the net , with the goal of finding out some news of Tanita .

And I did !  

Here on the forum there was talk about Tanita being back under the management of Mr Paul Charles at Asgard .
I wanted to find out if this was true and get some more info in the process .
So , I've contacted the people at Asgard management today .
Later in the afternoon they already replied to my email .

So , I now can let you all know , that Tanita is doing well and currently is recording her latest album with the people of Asgard !!!
No release date has been confirmed as yet for the album .
The person who replied to my email said to keep in touch , so she can keep us all posted on what's happening with Tanita .
Great isn't ?!!

Anyway , it's great to hear she's back in the recording studio ...  
Can't wait for the album to come out !

I'm gonna keep in touch with the people at Asgard , so we all
are informed on the latest ...

I hope I've made you all a bit happy with this news ...

Its great news for all TT fans. So thx a lot Eric. TT needs to come out with new CD, shoot I wish she was gifted enough to produce a new CD every month.

Yes, great news, but they told us the same thing 3 years ago. And where's the new album?

Even when Tanita has finished recording an album, it will be necessary to release it, which probably will not be an easy process. As I understand, Tanita isn't signed to a label at the moment. I suppose the likely route would be for her to shop the album around to various labels. Given that she has occasionaly spoken about her disappointment with Warner's in interviews, and that Mother Records dropped her, I don't envy her having to swim with the sharks yet again.

It is unfortunate that the current pop climate has produced an acutely myopic attitude among the people who sign artists to labels, and to the people who promote the artists and albums that are signed. Even a record like Capuccino Songs, which seemed to consciously court a pop audience, is far too quirky for most labels to take a risk on it.  

Personally, I would like to see Tanita forget about the marketplace entirely and release her new material herself via the internet, much in the way David Sylvian, Natalie Merchant and Michelle Shocked have. Tanita is a remarkable talent; it would be unfortunate if her future work was compromised by trying to meet the unrealistic demands of fitting into whatever pop fad is dominating the charts at the moment.

In all those months that have passed , I've emailed Asgard a few times , to ask for updates about the recording and about Tanita .
Sadly , I never received any response from the contact I made there earlier ...
