I saw her in 1995 twice (Birmingham and Manchester) and in 1998 at the second Amnesty International Benefit.

Manchester was great.  But Birmingham Symphony Hall was only 10% full.  I felt sorry for TT because it was the opening UK concert of the Lovers in the City tour.

Amnesty London was short and sweet.
From the churchyard into your trust
To the talk that we must, we must rekindle
To the way I want you
To the way I don't want nothing from you
You know the soul of a man is many coloured
Soul of a man one to another
Wants you another day

I saw her twice in Bristol, on the Sweet Keeper, and Everybody's Angel tours, and once in Oxford on the former tour as well, if I remember rightly.

I've met Tanita on two occasions, bot at Bristol, and was surprised at how small and quiet shy she was.

I think most have the impression of her being quite tall, especially after looking at TSK sleeve pictures or seeing her perform live on video, etc.

The program book for the Lover's In the City concert tour includes a photograph of Tanita casually standing outdoors with the various members of her band; although she is wearing a large shirt, it is rather apparent that she is "a mere slip of a girl" (to quote my gran).

The entertainment world offers many stories about celebrities and their desire to manipulate their body image through the media, some comical, some pathetic. Paul Simon notoriously insisted that the much-taller Art Garfunkel be photographed at odd angles on their record covers in order to disguise the height descrepancy between the two men (evidently he overcame this insecurity by the 1970's, only to replace it with an urgent desire to hide his quickly-balding head beneath bad toupes and baseball hats in the 1980's). Similar stories abound about Prince and Tom Cruise.
