Thanks for this and Patrick 'big thank you' for emailing us! Just home from the tennis in  Eastbourne and still 'getting back to normality' after seeing Belgian Justine Henin win! :)

It was certainly a brilliant day yesterday after Justine's win and opening my emails and reading that TT was performing in Basingstoke. Although it is a long journey for us from Chester we will be there! It will also be the first time that our daughr Rebecca will see/hear TT!! It has been such a long time so we couldn't miss this opportunity!!

Regards

So, how was it today?  :)

According to this website http://www.basingstokelive.co.uk/programme/ , "Tinita Tikaram" performed at 1.30 P.M. at War Memorial Park.

Hi :( >:(

We just got home from Basingstoke at 9pm and I'm afraid that there is nothing to report as TT did not turn up. We are very disappointed and more so due to the fact that the organisation couldn't tell us anything today as they had not heard from TT or management. She didn't turn up to play at 1.30pm so they put the next band on first and we waited and waited. Again no TT and the enxt band prepared the stage. Ruma who was present too decided to leave at approx 3.30pm and we did the same at 4pm.

A very disappointing weekend indeed as we spend 4 hours driving down to Basingstoke and stayed overnight etc. Will stop writing now as need to calm down a bit...feeling rather cross.
The only upbeat bit was the weather, Rebecca enjoying the funfair in the park today and having a chat with Ruma!

OMG, what a disappointment, I feel sorry for you, Natty.  >:(
Tanita has said in an interview that she "has no sense of time". Maybe this is why she forgot to show up. Also, the organisers didn't hear from her management. I wonder if she has any management at the moment.???
all the best,
K.

WHAT A HEARTBREAK NATTY AND I KNOW RUMA MUST BE SAD & DISAPPOINTED TOO.  :'( :'( :'(

NOT TO MENTION BASINGSTOKE IN GENERAL BECAUSE TANITA IS ONE OF THEIR OWN.

NATTY, DAVE & RUMA DESERVE GREAT EFFORT AWARDS.

WE WILL HOPE AND PRAY FOR A NEXT TIME.

Sorry to hear this Nat!  I was going to travel there myself, as I live 2.5 hours away, but decided not too in the end.  Like you, I'm a big tennis fan, so obviously Wimbledon was an added attraction for the day.

I was hoping it may be broadcast on radio, but despite a lot of research, it seemed this festival was receiving no radio broadcasting.

Perhaps Tanita was ill and couldn't attend?

She has said some negative things about Basingstoke before.  Maybe she accepted the invite, but decided not to show up?

I just don't understand TT.  She's a great live performer and has produced so much interesting music since LITC, yet she hasn't properly showcased it anywhere.  Even if she just played small venues......

Anyway, i hope the annoyance goes away.  I bet actually that the promoters knew in advance, but didn't want to make it public, because she is probably Basingstoke's best music artist.

To the way I want you
To the way I don't want nothing from you

Soul of a man one to another
Wants you another day

Sorry to hear that Natty ...  :(
I can understand your disappointment ...
A 4 hr drive up there , hyping up from excitement that you gonna see Tanita and then no Tanita at all !!
I would be mad myself ...

Does she have such bad management or no management at all ?!
I think oil-rich sons is right , they probably knew she wasn't gonna show and kept it from the public .
TT is still well known and draws people in .
We'll probably never know what the reason was she didn't show ...

Am I glad I didn't come over from Belgium ... I would be furious !
Going to the trouble to travel over there by boat or Eurotunnel , then drive all the way up ... for NOTHING ...

Well would you believe it!!

It seems like the Basingstoke festival organisers are the ones to blame!!!!!!!

Received an almost immediate response from TT's management stating that the first they knew about TT's Basingstoke performance was when they received emails this morning from other fans who turned up (by the way who are you - we just saw Ruma?!?!).
I've emailed all the information regarding publicity for the festival and TT's billing and they will contact the organisers. They will also get a very cross email from me - all the lies I was told yesterday every time I asked about TT.
Lesson learnt the hard way: next time I will check with TT's people as I first intended to do.

What a weekend...I was feeling down already after Justine Henin's defeat in the Wimbledon semi-final and then this! :'(
Of well: THE ONLY WAY IS UP!!
