VIRTUOUS WOMEN AND SUCH NOBLE MEN

IF I'M ON A LEVEL, I'VE MET NONE OF THEM.

DEE DEE--WHAT THIS IS TO ME, IS "I'M ON A LEVEL," MEANS " I AM DOWN TO EARTH."

THEREFORE IS TT SAYING SHE IS NOT IN NEED OF PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT DOWN TO EARTH?  (VIRTUOUS WOMEN AND SUCH NOBLE MEN)

BTW--I LOVE THIS SONG (LOVE STORY)
I NEED TIME TO COMPLICATE YOU

:) It is tough to pick just a few lines from TT, but all the choices so far sound great to me.

Some of my personal favourites are from "Lovers in the City" (the song) and "Wonderful Shadow", such as:

Sometimes I'm watching
Sometimes I'm too scared
And sometimes I'm able, I'm useful
I'm holding you...

For me, these lines evoke a sense of being "outside" the mainstream of love and life but gradually starting to join in. I could certainly identify with this when the album was first released (ten years ago!) so maybe it is just a case of seeing what you want or need to see ;)

I always thought that the line from Love Story was "If I am on THE level", which would usually mean "If I am being honest" or "to tell you the truth..."  Even if the line is "on A level", I still think that I would understand it this way...

Regards,

Graham

I want to see you again
I want to see you again
It's so simple and plain
But I'll come back and see you again

these lines in context with the melancholy of the song touching me deeply every time I hear this song.
so longing and hopeful.

I've been listening to TT quite a lot lately (as much as my busy schedule lets me to spend time lost in music). I know all the lyrics and all, but still, now reading your favourite lines, I've rediscovered how great TT's at writing lyrics.
