First of all, is there any competition? In my opinion not! And if so, would we want the general public, with their seemingly overwhelmingly boring and highly predictable musical opinions to judge someone as unique as Tanita? I know at 30 I'm starting to sound like my parents did not too long ago, but check the state of the Top 40 in major countries these days...
Gee, that sounds a bit negative dosesn't it... in retrospect, perhaps I'm having a bad day!
But in any case, if we're going to consider quality competion, then how about you add Joni Mitchell (despite her age and lack of new material for quite some time), Bic Runga and Racine to the list.
Speaking of which, has anyone heard the new album 'Number One' from Racine (the new Wendy James project)? It is amazingly infectious!
