Promotion

I found it just a while ago:
http://rozrywka.interia.pl/wydarzenia/news?inf=615014
And now face the truth - Tanita was in Poland (look at the Palace of Culture). They said it's a great album and will be published in Poland on Monday 25th.

Thats about the only Polish I understand. I also understand that it makes you mad that you missed this occasion. However, TT seems to have a special link with Poland, as it is not the first time she visited your country and probably will visit it again! The trick seems to be to find out when!

Hi!

Shame Polish fans didn't know about TT's visit. Guess we will have the same here too when the UK promotion happens. Unless you can find something in a radio or TV magazine and you'll always know about it when it is not really 'news' anymore! This would be really what fans like to see on the official website... where+when promotion happens!!

Cheers

Exactly! I mean what do we need the news section for on the OFFICIAL site when it is not what it stands for?  Come on, how much effort does it take to add a sentence of the sort: Tanita's visiting Warsaw, London, NYC on ... . I know they want to sell as many Sentimental discs as possible hence the info in the news section, but hello? is that what it's come to?

The official site is a big laugh, and I will continue saying that until it actually serves its purpose.

DeeDee,
Yes, your right: This should be an item for the Official Site of TT! They should make us aware of TV promotions, concerts, etcetera. However, if I look at the content untill now, I'm afraid that it will take some time before this site will become the reference site we want them to be.

I'm not even counting on seeing stuff that's exclusive to this site only. Honestly, what piece of info didn't we know about that's on the official site? True, they've confirmed the release and we have one journal entry, which is new. Other than that, you can find there info that's been copied off other sites whose webmasters got to know that only after they've seen it on the official one.
Give me a break.

Would it make a difference if we, all the members of this forum, would complain about the poor information to the people behind the official website?

Hi!

I wouldn't like us (TT Community Members) to put in a complaint. The site is never the less a good effort as there has never been an official TT site. I'm sure the webmaster (forgot his name now) only puts on the page what he's given by TT's management (mind you this is entirely my guess!!). I just had a look at another artists website: Nanci Griffith (saw her live on Friday in Birmingham-same venu as TT in 1995 and Nanci was fab!!) and there there is mention of appearances on TV, radio and at a bookstore. They also give advance notice!!
Yes DeeDee I agree, they must have a schedule of promotion and all it would take is to copy and paste!
I will try and contact TT's management and keep you all posted. But I wouldn't count on this information to be ever published on the website as it didn't happen in the past with the info letter etc. Maybe they could even us the mailing list (on the website)! Anyway...if any new will let you know!

Cheers

Hi!

Just compare the official page:
http://www.tanita-tikaram.com/discography.htm
with:
http://www.tanitatikaram.net/discog.html

this is a pure copy-and-paste site. What is worse, the discography was pasted without citing the original source. It's strange that TT's management has no other sources than a compilation of TT's discography made by a few fans on the (former) TT mailing list some years ago. I assume that they (TT's management) are just too lazy to do anything on their own. For example, notice that the single versions of "Yodelling Song", "Stop Listening", and "I Don't Wanna Lose at Love" are different from the album versions. They are not marked as different on Steve Pugh's www.tanitatikaram.net page. Correspondingly, they are not marked as different on the official website, either. TT's management should know that these are different versions, but obviously, they would need to read what they paste on the official website first in order to notice that.

If I were Steven Pugh, I would complain. Isn't it plagiarism?

Hi!

Thanks for pointing this out Krzysztof. We also noticed that the concert list looked vaguely familiar to what we had on ours...
Anyway.. we must really try and find out about the promotion TT doing, will do etc.
Will keep you all posted of I hear anything!!

Keep smiling ;)

The concert list looked vaguely familiar to me, too.  ;)  For a moment I even though that for a change TT's management did something entirely on their own, but it's good to know that I was mistaken.

However, it means that they have saved your website on their hard disks, because it's not available any more?

Hi!

No Krzysztof, shouldn't think that our website was copied by them. A few bits were missing on our concertlists anyway...
Let's hope there will be some real news soon on the official website but let's just keep this site ALIVE & KICKING!!!

cheers
