Now, this is a bit longish version by Joao Gilberto. I hope you can download it.

HELLO EVERYONE--

IT'S PATRYK WRITING FROM LONDON. I HAVE BEEN WORKING IN LONDON AND BELFAST OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS...

CONSIDERING ALL TT SONGS:  WHICH SINGULAR SONG DOES SHE USE THE MOST RANGE WITH HER VOICE?  (HIGH AND LOW)  I SAY IT IS "I'M ON MY OWN" FROM SENTIMENTAL.  THAT SONG HAS REALLY GROWN ON ME.  WHEN TT SAY'S "I'M MISSING MY PEOPLE," I GET SHIVERS!  WHAT DO YOU THINK?

OK FOLKS--

NO ONE RESPONDED TO MY MESSAGE ABOUT "WHAT SONG DO YOU THINK TT USES THE GREATEST RANGE IN HER VOICE"

I THINK THE TOP ONE IS "GOT TO GIVE YOU UP," FROM SENTIMENTAL

ALSO ANOTHER WOULD BE "LOVE DON'T NEED NO TYRANNY," FROM ELEVEN KINDS OF LONELINESS

ANY OTHERS???   THANKS, PATRYK

YOU ARE RIGHT DEE DEE--TO DRINK THE RAINBOW AND HEAL YOU WOULD BE ON THE LIST OF SONGS WHERE TANITA SHOWS THE MOST RANGE!

ONCE WE GET ANY MORE ADDITIONS, WE SHOULD RANK ORDER THEM.

SENTIMENTAL WILL BE RELEASED IN CHINA ON JULY 26TH.

IT WOULD BE NICE TO GET SOME MEMBERS FROM CHINA IN OUR COMMUNITY SO THEY COULD COMMENT ON THE SONGS, MELODIES AND LYRICS.

THERE ARE SOME SONGS THAT TANITA USES HER LOWEST RANGE, SOME WHERE SHE USES HER HIGHEST RANGE AND SOME SHE USES BOTH.  HERE IS MY ANALYSIS.  FEEL FREE TO ADD IF YOU HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO THE COLLECTION:

LOWEST RANGE SONGS
Amore Si
Bloodlines
Lovers in the City

HIGHEST RANGE SONGS
Drink the Rainbow
Light up the World
Love Don't Need no Tyranny
Heal You
Love Story

BOTH RANGES SONGS
I'm on my Own
My Love Tonight

LOWEST RANGE OVERALL ALBUM
Lovers in the City

HIGHEST RANGE OVERALL ALBUM
The Cappuccino Songs

LOWEST RANGE SONGS
Amore Si
Bloodlines
Lovers in the City

I'd add Play Me Again, Five Feet Away.

HIGHEST RANGE SONGS
Drink the Rainbow
Light up the World
Love Don't Need no Tyranny
Heal You
Love Story

He Likes The Sun, especially the chorus. I don't know about Love Don't Need no Tyranny... Patryk, is it really high range? I might need to listen to it again more carefully, but I thought it was more low range. When you listen to EKOL this very song stands out (for me at least) as pretty low range in comparison to the rest. That album was recorded in two or three different studios and it always seemed to me LDNnT was recorded separately or on a different day/different studio because it has a different sound quality (chamber like) and Tanita's voice is quite unlike on other songs on that album.

BOTH RANGES SONGS
I'm on my Own
My Love Tonight

I'd also add Any Reason and Not Waving But Drowning here. Patryk, where did you get I'm on My Own from? :)

LOWEST RANGE OVERALL ALBUM
Lovers in the City

HIGHEST RANGE OVERALL ALBUM
The Cappuccino Songs

That is what I also think. Thanks Patryk for bringing this up, it's my favourite thread of the week! :D

WOW DEE DEE

THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK  :) :D ;D ;) :-*

AND THANKS FOR THE ADDITIONS--I AGREE WITH THEM.

THE REASON I PUT LOVE DON'T NEED NO TYRANNY IN HIGHEST RANGE IS THE PART ON THE INSTRUMENTAL WHERE SHE GOES VERY HIGH WITH HER VOICE AND IT GOES INTO AN INSTRUMENT.  YOU ARE VERY RIGHT ABOUT THE RECORDING QUALITY BEING DIFFERENT THAN THE REST OF THE SONGS ON EKOL.

I'M ON MY OWN IS THE SECOND TO LAST SONG ON SENTIMENTAL AND IT IS THE DEFINITIVE SONG OF LOW AND HIGH FOR TANITA!

PATRYK - I think you mean "Got to Give You Up"

The line is "Time on my own", not "I'm on my own".

I suppose you don't have the album yet in America, hence no titles and lyrics.
From the churchyard into your trust
To the talk that we must, we must rekindle
To the way I want you
To the way I don't want nothing from you
You know the soul of a man is many coloured
Soul of a man one to another
Wants you another day

YOU ARE CORRECT ABOUT THE TITLE MARTIN--I KNOW THE TITLE BECAUSE I HAVE IDENTIFIED IT PREVIOUSLY IN THIS SECTION.  I DO HAVE THE ALBUM AND LYRICS.  SOMETIMES WE CHOOSE TO HEAR WHAT WE WANT TO HEAR  :o

THE REASON I PUT LOVE DON'T NEED NO TYRANNY IN HIGHEST RANGE IS THE PART ON THE INSTRUMENTAL WHERE SHE GOES VERY HIGH WITH HER VOICE AND IT GOES INTO AN INSTRUMENT.

Mmm, isn't that part sung (screamed) by a male voice? That's one of the mysteries of EKOL, for me it doesn't sound anything like Tanita's voice. But I've just realised it might have been distorted by the chamber acoustics in the studio or during the mixing part. I'm shocked to discover the mysterious voice might actually be Tanita's, need to finish and run to the other room to listen to the song for the 573rd time, but it will definitely feel like the 1st now ;)

Patryk, you've just destroyed my long established views on EKOL mysteries!  >:(

isn't it an instrument making that high-pitched wailing noise on LDNNT?  never thought it was a voice.   ???
